Sir Daniel's Law #1

“The dangerous decision to remove your protective shell is strictly prohibited!”


What To Know
  • Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes: Helmets are required for those under 18 years of age
  • Class 3 E-Bikes: required for all ages

“Trusted packmates must not foolishly attempt to ride the same battery-powered steed!”


What To Know

Carrying passengers is illegal unless:

  • Your bike has an extra permanent seat

“Swimming upstream against the metallic stampede is most perilous and prohibited!”


What To Know
  • Riding against the follow is traffic is prohibited

“Vibrant colors ward off collisions with faster moving creatures. Inconspicuous colors are strictly banned! ”


What To Know
  • Wearing bright colors is an excellent way to increase visibility and maximizes safety

“Gracefully yielding to pedestrian pedestrianus (pedestrians) is mandatory.”


What To Know
  • Those on e-bikes must always yield to pedestrians

Sir Daniel's Law #6

“When venturing outside their natural habitat, an e-bike rider may not enter paths guarded against two-wheeled intruders.”


What To Know
  • Class 1, 2 and 3 E-Bikes can travel on the following places, unless prohibited by the city:
    1. Street Lanes
    2. Bike Paths
    3. Bike Routes
    4. Separated Cycle Tracks
    5. Sidewalks (use with caution and only if permitted by city)
  • Citations can be issued for those who ride on prohibited paths

Sir Daniel's Law #7

“Bicycles that have 750 watts or more of power are considered a part of Motorcyclus Electrificus (electric motorcycle)…not Bicyclus Electrificus (electric bicycle) and therefore are subject to different laws of the jungle that you must follow!”


What To Know
  • Bicycles with a motor of greater than 750 watts are classified as Mopeds/Electric Motorcycles and therefore have different rules that apply to them which you must follow including:
    • Prohibited on bike paths, bike routes or separated cycle tracks
    • Riders must be at least 16 and have a driver’s license
    • Riders must wear a motorcycle helmet, not bicycle helmet

Sir Daniel's Law #8

“An e-bike is a deceptively heavy symbiotic companion that requires a greater stopping distance that you must consider.”


What To Know

You must be aware of the stopping distance of your bicycle at various speeds and exercise caution to reflect this.

  • At 28mph, e-bikes can travel almost 100 feet in just 2.5 seconds before the rider reacts and touches the brakes
  • It could take up to 200 feet to reach a full stop after braking
