SR-57 Truck Climbing Lane Project

SR-57 Truck Climbing Lane Project Overview

Caltrans, in partnership with OCTA, is proposing improvements to northbound SR-57 between Lambert Road and the Orange/Los Angeles County line to improve traffic flow and support regional goods movement. The project would extend the existing general-purpose lane as a truck-only climbing lane to separate slower-moving trucks from other traffic, improve multimodal travel, and incorporate advanced technology where feasible. The project is evaluating two Build Alternatives and one No Build Alternative.

Proposed Improvements

Alternative. 1 – No Build

Existing configuration of the project area is maintained.

Alternative 2 – Build Alternative

This alternative would add one truck climbing lane on northbound SR-57 from Lambert Road to just south of Tonner Canyon Road.

Alternative 3 – Build Alternative

This alternative would add one truck climbing lane on northbound SR-57 from Lambert Road to the Orange County/Los Angeles County line.
