Upcoming Extended Closures of Southbound I-605 Ramps

WHEN: Crews are expected to perform realignment work on the southbound (SB) I-605 Katella Avenue loop off-ramp and straight on-ramp, which will require overlapping extended closures of the ramps.

WHERE:

SB I-605 Katella Loop Off-Ramp 10-Day Closure
Closed: Sunday, Sept. 27 at 10 p.m.
Open: Wednesday, Oct. 7 by 6 a.m.

SB I-605 Katella Straight On-Ramp 55-Hour Closure
Closed: Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 p.m.
Open: Monday, Oct. 5 by 5 a.m.

East and Westbound Katella Avenue

Crews are anticipated to continue roadway improvements on eastbound Katella Avenue, including preparing the roadway for paving, placing road base and completing drainage improvements. The eastbound sidewalk will remain closed. Pedestrians should cross at Walnut Street to access the westbound sidewalk.

Closures and Detours

Please plan ahead and expect delays during these times. Nighttime closures typically occur between 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Specific closures for the week of Sept.21 include:

• Outside lanes on eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue/Willow Street, at least one lane will be open to traffic at all times

Rendering of Improvements along Katella Avenue

The rendering highlights planned improvements along Katella Avenue between Coyote Creek Channel and Epson Way. Key features include:

• Reconfiguration of the northbound on- and off-ramps into a T-intersection
• Addition of Class II bike lanes with hatched markings to indicate bike lane transitions
• Installation of a new traffic signal at the northbound I-605/Katella Avenue off-ramp, along with upgraded signals at nearby intersections
• Painted crosswalks and newly constructed sidewalks to enhance pedestrian access and safety
