Northbound I-605 Katella Avenue On-Ramp and Realignment

WHAT: Work is anticipated to continue as crews create space for a new retaining wall along the northbound I-605 Avenue on-ramp. Activities include placing embankment material, installing shoring, and excavating in preparation for wall construction, which is expected to begin in March.

CLOSURES: Nightly on the northbound I-605 Katella Avenue on- and off-ramp, along with one outside lane on northbound I-605.

WHEN: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, Feb. 23 through Thursday, Feb. 26 and 10 p.m. Friday, Feb 27 to 7 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

The work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Sidewalk Access

The sidewalks on both eastbound and westbound of Katella are under construction. Pedestrians can use a protected walkway on eastbound Katella, which will serve as a temporary pedestrian detour route.

Closures and Detours

Please plan ahead and expect delays during these times. Nighttime closures typically occur between 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Specific closures for the week of Feb. 23 include:

• Outside lanes on eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue/Willow Street, at least one lane will be open to traffic at all times
• I-605 at Katella Avenue/Willow Street; at least three lanes will be open to traffic at all times

Rendering of Improvements along Katella Avenue

The rendering highlights planned improvements along Katella Avenue between Coyote Creek Channel and Epson Way. Key features include:

• Reconfiguration of the northbound on- and off-ramps into a T-intersection
• Addition of Class II bike lanes with hatched markings to indicate bike lane transitions
• Installation of a new traffic signal at the northbound I-605/Katella Avenue off-ramp, along with upgraded signals at nearby intersections
• Painted crosswalks and newly constructed sidewalks to enhance pedestrian access and safety
