OC Bridges program and Capital Projects Outreach manager Christina Byrne of Anaheim are recognized for contributions to transportation
ORANGE –WTS recognized Orange County Transportation Authority’s Capital Projects Outreach manager Christina Byrne as member of the year and honored the OC Bridges project with the Innovative Transportation Solutions Award at its recent 26th annual Awards Gala.
WTS is an international organization dedicated to advancing women in transportation through networking, seminars, access to top transportation professionals and mentoring.
This year, Member of the Year was awarded to OCTA Capital Projects Outreach manager Christina Byrne for her dedication to WTS and transportation communication. In addition to providing vital communications to the public for OCTA, she has been an integral part of promoting WTS Orange County. Byrne, a resident of Anaheim, has led the communications committee, implemented a social media plan and overseen the creation and update of blogs, Instagram and Twitter feeds.
The OC Bridges project was honored with the Innovative Transportation Solutions Award. This $634 million project, funded by Measure M, includes the design and construction of seven railroad grade separations. OCTA led the design, right-of-way and construction phases for all the grade separations except for Raymond Avenue and State College Boulevard grade separations, which were led by the city of Fullerton.
Recently, all seven grade separations have reached or completed the construction phase, and the public is beginning to experience the benefits of improved safety, elimination of railroad crossing delays, enhanced economic vitality and improved air and noise conditions.
“We are so proud of the work being done by Christina Byrne and the entire OC Bridges team,” CEO Darrell E. Johnson said. “The work they do is vital to the success of OCTA, and I am happy that WTS recognized their hard work and dedication to improving transportation.”
