OCTA Plays New Year’s Eve Designated Driver For The 10th Year

Free bus rides provide safe and convenient way to travel
Dec. 27, 2011
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is working to make end of the year celebrations safe and hassle-free by offering free bus rides between 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 and 2:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

“We encourage those out celebrating New Year’s Eve in Orange County to leave behind their cars and enjoy a free ride on the bus,” said OCTA Chair Patricia Bates, also the 5th District Supervisor. “Knowing that an OCTA bus is there to get residents home safely is something that can give everyone peace of mind this holiday season.”

Last year, there were 15,540 free New Year’s Eve boardings and more than 102,000 boardings since the program began in 2002.

For more information on New Year’s Eve service and to check bus routes and schedules, visit OCTA’s website at www.octa.net or call (714) 636-7433.
