OCTA Offers Anaheim Residents, Visitors and Employees Convenient and Reliable Public Transit Options

The Anaheim Transportation Network announced it will cease operating at the end of the month but OCTA continues to provide expansive bus service in and around the Anaheim Resort District

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority continues providing frequent and reliable public transit service to make traveling easy for residents, visitors and area employees with the announcement that the Anaheim Transportation Network is winding down its transit services on March 31.

“OCTA understands how important dependable transit service is for thousands of workers, residents and visitors in the Anaheim Resort area,” said OCTA Chair Jamey M. Federico. “OC Bus has always been a safe, reliable and affordable option in Anaheim and the surrounding communities and we welcome everyone on board.”

OCTA already serves much of the Anaheim Resort area. Approximately 75% of ATN’s routes are currently served by OCTA, and the remaining routes are located within walking distance of existing OC Bus stops.

Anaheim is a major hub in OCTA’s system, with nearly half of all OCTA bus routes traveling through the city, and Anaheim has the second-highest transit ridership in Orange County – only behind Santa Ana.

  • Along Harbor Boulevard, riders benefit from service designed to provide both frequent local trips and faster limited-stop options. Route 43 operates as the primary north-south local service between Fullerton and Costa Mesa, running daily from approximately 4 a.m. to 1:45 a.m., with service every 20 minutes during peak hours.
  • For faster trips, OC Bus Rapid Route 543 provides limited-stop service along the same Harbor Boulevard corridor on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., operating approximately every 20 minutes.
  • Additional north-south connections include Route 53, serving Main Street between Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), Orange and Santa Ana. Route 53 runs weekdays from approximately 4 a.m. to 1 a.m., every 15 to 20 minutes, with weekend service beginning around 5:40 a.m.
  • OC Bus Rapid Route 553 offers limited-stop service between ARTIC and the resort area on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., operating every 22 minutes.
  • Route 57, a key north-south link along State College Boulevard, runs daily from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m., approximately every 20 to 30 minutes.

East-west travel is supported by several routes serving the resort district.

  • Route 50 operates daily along Katella Avenue between Long Beach and Orange from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m., approximately every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 40 minutes on weekends.
  • Route 46 provides service along Ball Road and Taft Avenue between Los Alamitos and Orange, generally operating hourly beginning around 5 a.m. on weekdays and approximately 5:30 a.m. on weekends.

Reliable and affordable transit access remains especially critical for the region’s large workforce, underscoring the importance of connections that employees can count on to safely transport them between housing and major employment centers.

OCTA also makes riding more convenient through the Wave fare payment system, which allows customers to tap and pay using the Wave card, mobile app, or contactless payment methods. Real-time arrival information and trip planning tools are available to help riders navigate the system efficiently.

The cost to ride any regular OC Bus route is $2 per trip, with a daily fare cap of $5. Youth ages 18 and under and Community College Pass holders ride free.

As OCTA continues to invest in safe and reliable service throughout Orange County, the agency welcomes qualified candidates for coach operator and maintenance positions to support ongoing operations.

OCTA has coordinated closely with ATN and the city of Anaheim for many years on transportation services in the resort area and will continue working collaboratively to ensure transit remains a viable option for the millions of people who live in, work in, and visit the Anaheim Resort area.
