OC Fair Express Helps More than 6,000 Attendees Reach the Fair Conveniently and Affordably

OCTA will continue offering bus rides to the OC Fair for $4 roundtrip from four locations throughout the county during the fair’s run through Aug. 18.

ORANGE – The OC Fair is in full swing and OC Fair Express is helping thousands of attendees avoid parking hassles by getting them there with an affordable and convenient ride on public transportation.

In the first two weeks of the OC Fair, more than 6,300 people have taken OC Fair Express, which also helps ease congestion in the parking lot and on the streets around the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

OC Fair Express returned this year after taking several years off because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first weekend in July drew 2,813 riders from four locations around the county. The next weekend, ridership grew by approximately 25% to 3,520 riders, for a total of 6,333 riders so far.

Part of that growth can be attributed to positive word-of-mouth and social media posts from fair-goers who helped spread the word about getting there using the bus service provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority.

“As a father with a family, OC (Fair) Express helped a lot!!” one Facebook user wrote. “Can’t beat this deal! No Brainer!! AC, Front Door Fair, Big Discount!!”

OCTA will continue to run OC Fair Express service on Saturdays and Sundays through the run of the fair. This year’s OC Fair, themed “Always a Good Time,” runs through Aug. 18.

OC Fair Express runs approximately every 30 minutes, generally between 10 a.m. and midnight (check the website to plan your trip), from these locations:

  • Anaheim: Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), 2626 E. Katella Ave.
  • Fullerton: Fullerton Park-and-Ride, 3000 W. Orangethorpe Ave.
  • Huntington Beach: Goldenwest Transportation Center, 7301 Center Ave.
  • Laguna Hills: Laguna Hills Transportation Center, 24282 Calle de los Caballeros.

The service allows riders to save time and money on parking and gas. Mirroring OCTA’s low bus fares, adults can ride OC Fair Express for just $4 round trip and it’s free for youth riders 18 and younger with no pass required. The free Community College Pass and all other regular OC Bus passes are also accepted.

Seniors age 60 and above can ride OC Fair Express round-trip for just $1.50. The buses drop off and pick up passengers just a short walk from the fair entrance.
