Glaab Selected As New OCTA Board Chair

Laguna Niguel mayor will lead the agency, Winterbottom chosen as vice chair

Jan. 9, 2012

ORANGE – Vice Chair Paul Glaab was unanimously selected this morning as the new chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors.

Glaab replaces outgoing Chair Patricia Bates, who continues to serve on the board as the county supervisor representing the Fifth District.

“It’s an honor to be chosen by my peers to lead an agency that is vital in ensuring Orange County’s quality of life,” said Glaab. “I’m looking forward to a year in which we successfully deliver transportation improvements to residents and businesses in all corners of our county.”
Glaab is the mayor of Laguna Niguel and has served on the Laguna Niguel City Council since 2004.

Glaab joined the OCTA board in 2006 and has contributed significantly as a member of several key OCTA committees – Legislative and Communications Committee and chair of the Highways Committee. He also is a member of the Metrolink board of directors, Orange County Council of Governments and California Council of Governments.

Replacing Glaab as vice chair is public member Gregory T. Winterbottom, who joined the board in 1993. In addition to serving on the OCTA board of directors, Winterbottom served as OCTA chairman in 2004 and currently serves as vice chairman of the Transit Committee and as a member of the Security Working Group Committee.
