Celebrate The Lunar New Year With Metrolink Ride To Chinatown (2010)

The first 100 guests will receive a free round-trip ticket
ORANGE – Orange County residents can celebrate the Lunar New Year with festivities at the Irvine Metrolink station and free Metrolink tickets to Chinatown in Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The Orange County Transportation Authority is extending a holiday greeting to the community by commemorating the “Year of the Tiger” with a one-hour program starting at 8:15 a.m. at the Irvine Transportation Center, 15215 Barranca Parkway in Irvine.

Festivities at the event will feature good wishes from local elected officials, traditional music and entertainment by a time-honored lion dance to welcome a new year for Metrolink passengers.

Participants may then catch the 9:38 a.m. train to Los Angeles, where they can enjoy the Chinese New Year Parade and Festival.

“OCTA is pleased to participate once again in this community holiday,” said OCTA Chairman Jerry Amante. “Metrolink riders have a lot to celebrate in 2010 as OCTA prepares to increase the frequency of Metrolink service this fall.”

The first 100 guests will receive free round-trip Metrolink tickets, courtesy of VPSI Inc., to continue the celebration in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. Tickets will be handed out beginning at 7:30 a.m.

All Metrolink tickets are good for a free transfer on the Gold Line to Chinatown. For train schedules and information, visit www.octa.net/lunar2010 .
