ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is kicking off national Bike Month with a festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, April 29 at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza.

“Riding your bike, whether to work or to buy your morning coffee on the weekend, is a healthy, money saving alternative to driving,” said OCTA Vice Chair Greg Winterbottom. “This festival is the perfect opportunity to get ready to start riding during Bike Month.”

All ages and levels of bike enthusiasts are welcome to attend the free Bike Festival, which will include:
Safety and maintenance demonstrations, including how to fix a flat tire and properly fit a helmet
Complimentary inspection to ensure your bike is ready to ride
Information and vendor booths such as Jax Bicycle Center, Electra and REI
Raffles and giveaways including biking gear, gift certificates and movie tickets
The OCTA Bike Festival precedes Orange County’s Bike to Work Week, which runs from Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18.

Those who pledge to ride as part of Bike Month will receive a $25 coupon to Jax Bicycle Center and be entered for a chance to win a variety of prizes.
