Popular service extended for playoff games at Angel Stadium, beginning Thursday and Friday
ORANGE – Baseball fans can continue to take advantage of the popular Angels Express train to get to home games during the Angels’ playoff run, which begins Thursday and Friday at Angel Stadium.
The special Metrolink train will run from stations on the Orange County Line, from Los Angeles to Oceanside. Orange County stops on the way to Anaheim include: San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, Irvine, Tustin, Santa Ana and Orange.
Between Anaheim and L.A.’s Union Station, stops include: Fullerton, Buena Park, Norwalk and Commerce.
A ride aboard the Angels Express is just $7 roundtrip from any stop, eliminating the need to battle traffic and parking hassles. It drops fans off at the stadium parking lot, a short walk from the entrance gates.
Discounted tickets are available for Seniors/Disabled ($6), Youth ages 6-18 ($4) and the ride is free for children ages 5 and under (limit three per fare).
Tickets can be purchased at any Metrolink station ticketing machine by selecting “Special Ticket Options.” Fans should arrive 15 minutes before the train departs to buy tickets.
Thursday’s Angels playoff game against the Kansas City Royals is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday’s game begins at 6:30 p.m.
If a Game 5 is necessary, the Angels Express will return for that game at Angel Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 8 (game time yet to be determined.)
For the first two games, the Angels Express leaves Oceanside (Train 609) at 3:26 p.m. and Irvine (Train 689) at 5:10 p.m. It leaves L.A.’s Union Station (Train 604) at 4:30 p.m. and (Train 688) at 4:50 p.m.
Return trains will leave Angel Stadium 30 minutes after the game ends.
During the regular season, nearly 44,000 fans got to a game by using the service, which was made possible by a $208,520 grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Committee.
