Bus Service Change Improvements

Effective November 10, 2024

The Bus Service Change Improvements provides a summary of the upcoming service improvements to OC Bus. This service change will provide minor schedule changes to improve service quality as well as schedule adjustments to routes serving Metrolink stations to align with the recent Metrolink schedule change. Route adjustments will be made to routes 42 and 46 and Route 150 will be split into Routes 150 and 151, one route for each direction of travel to provide customers a clearer schedule and direction of travel for the route.

Routes Details

Route 1
Weekdays: Adjust frequency of service to every 30 minutes during peak hours south of Newport Transportation Center.

Route 26
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 29
Weekends: Adjust schedule to be the same on both days.

Route 35
Weekends: Adjust schedule to be the same on both days.

Route 42
All Days: Shorten route to end at Norwalk Blvd and Wardlow Rd in Long Beach. For service to Seal Beach, transfer to Route 46 at bus stop number 4601 located at southbound Los Alamitos Blvd, far side Cerritos Ave.
Weekdays: Adjust frequency of service to every 30 minutes before 6:00 am, every 15 minutes during peak morning and evening, every 20 minutes midday, every 30 minutes early evening and 45-60 minutes late evening hours.
Weekdays: Route 42: Extend last night trip to 11:11 pm Eastbound and 11:10 pm Westbound. Route 42A: Adjust starting and ending times to 8:30 am and 6:20 pm.
Weekends: Adjust frequency of service to every 30 minutes and eliminate the alternate alignment.

Route 46
All Days: Extend route to serve Seal Beach via Norwalk Blvd/Los Alamitos Blvd (formerly Route 42 routing). For service to Lincoln Ave, transfer to Route 42 at bus stop number 7702 located at northbound Norwalk Blvd, near side Wardlow Rd.
Weekdays: Improve frequency to every 30 minutes from the Village at Orange to Norwalk Blvd and Wardlow; reduce frequency to every 60 minutes to Seal Beach.
Weekends: Reduce frequency to every 60 minutes.

Route 47
Weekdays: Add 2:21 pm southbound trip at Fairview and Westminster to better meet Lydia Romero-Cruz Academy schedule.

Route 54
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 56
Weekdays: Adjust frequency of service to every 30 minutes during AM and PM peak hours and midday hours.

Route 57
Weekdays: During AM and PM peak hours, adjust short turn routing to every 12 minutes and regular routing to every 24 minutes. During midday hours, adjust short turn routing to every 15 minutes and regular routing to every 30 minutes.

Route 70
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 123
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change and increase service hours to start Southbound trips 9:42 am and Northbound trips at 9:44 am.

Route 129
Weekdays: Adjust frequency of service to every 45 minutes.

Route 143
Weekdays: Adjust starting and ending times: Eastbound buses run from 4:49 am to 10:02pm. Westbound buses run from 5:07 am to 10:27 pm.
Weekends: Adjust schedule to be the same on both days with minor schedule adjustments.

Route 150
All Days: Split into two separate routes, one for each direction. Route 150 will travel in the clockwise direction.

Route 151 (New Route)
All Days: New Route 151 will travel on the counterclockwise direction of Route 150. Minor schedule adjustment.

Route 400A
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change and adjust routing to service the new UCI Medical Center at Jamboree and Birch in Irvine.

Route 401B
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 403D
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 453
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 472
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 473
Weekdays: Adjust schedule to provide connections that align with October 21 Metrolink service change.

Route 480
