The OCTA project outreach team joined more than 30 San Juan Capistrano residents for a discussion on the impact of freeway improvement projects on equestrian activities.
Decked in cowboy boots and hats, the group gathered Wednesday to hear about the I-5 South County Improvement Project’s ongoing work to complete new carpool lanes in both directions from San Juan Capistrano to San Clemente, as well as make major improvements to the Avenida Pico Interchange.
The OCTA outreach group had teamed up with Caltrans, which is working on the Ortega Interchange Project, for the special presentation because of the considerable equestrian community in San Juan Capistrano.
OCTA’s Julie Toledo also met with nearly two dozen members of the San Clemente Kiwanis Club at a Carrow’s Restaurant less than a block from the interchange earlier Wednesday to assure the members that the agency will be working with the community as closely as possible to ensure construction will run smoothly.
