OCTA Joins Transit Agencies Across The Nation In Remembering Sept. 11

The Moment of Remembrance will take place at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 11

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is joining transit agencies across the nation in a Moment of Remembrance this Sunday, Sept. 11.

At 10 a.m., a moment of silence will be observed to remember the more than 3,000 people that lost their lives during the terrorist attacks and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving out nation in the war against terrorism.

“The tragic events of Sept. 11 will never be forgotten and across the nation people will be coming together to observe the 10th anniversary of this solemn occasion,” said OCTA Chair Patricia Bates, also the Fifth District Supervisor. “I encourage everyone to take a moment this Sunday and join OCTA in remembering the innocent victims and survivors of 9/11 and those who continue to be committed to protecting our freedom.”

OCTA will be utilizing social media to communicate the moment of silence with customers and the public. Information regarding the remembrance also will be posted on www.octa.net.

Although there is no immediate threat to OCTA, increased security is planned on the bus system and at train stations over the weekend, including deployment of the new Counter Terrorism Team. ]’
