Contract with Transportation Communications Union rewards workers with up to 13% pay increase over the next three years beginning April 1.
ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority’s Board of Directors this week approved a new collective bargaining agreement with the union representing employees supporting OCTA’s Operations Division, rewarding Facilities Technicians and Parts Clerks for the essential work they perform to keep Orange County moving.
The agreement with the Transportation Communications Union / International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, or TCU, includes wage increases of 11% to 13% over the next three years, beginning on April 1.
“I greatly appreciate TCU’s efforts to negotiate in good faith and reach a fair and competitive deal for employees,” said OCTA Chair Tam T. Nguyen. “While the work they do is largely behind the scenes, each of these employees plays a crucial role in ensuring passengers on OC Bus have safe and reliable service.”
Parts Clerks support maintenance and facility workers by providing parts, safety equipment and other supplies. The parts clerks’ agreement calls for a 5% increase beginning April 1, a 3% increase in the second year, and 5% in the third year.
Facilities Technicians perform day-to-day operations and maintenance to machinery and equipment, transportation centers, and OCTA facilities. Their new agreement calls for an increase of 3% beginning April 1, 3% in the second year, and 5% in the third year.
The current agreement expires on March 31, and the new agreement runs through March 2027.
