Paula Perotte is the first elected Mayor for the City of Goleta and has been involved in serving on the Council since 2010. She is proud to serve the Goodland where she has called home since.
Paula Perotte made Goleta history by being the first person elected Mayor for a two-year term in 2018. She was re-elected to serve as Mayor in 2020 and 2024. (In the 2020 election, voters had decided the term for Mayor should be four-years instead of two.) Paula Perotte was originally elected to serve on Goleta's City Council in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. During those eight years, Paula was selected Mayor for three one-year terms by her City Council colleagues.
Mayor Perotte serves as Goleta's representative to the following regional organizations:
- Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District Board (APCD)
- South Central Coast Basinwide Control Council
- Santa Barbra County Association of Governments (SBCAG)
- Board of Los Angeles - San Diego - San Luis Obispo LOSSAN
- 154 Corridor Safety on Highway 154
- Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD)
She also serves on the following City committees:
- Homelessness Issues Standing Committee
- Legislative Issues Ad Hoc Committee
- Personnel Committee
- Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Standing Committee
- Revenue Neutrality Ad Hoc Agreement Committee
Mayor Perotte has been a long-time advocate for children. Previously, she had worked for the Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara helping parents of special needs children obtain services for their children. She was involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at the local, regional and state level for over 20 years. Her PTA work has included service on the Community Concerns Commission; the Special Needs Committee; the Safe Routes to School National and State Partnership; Strategic Highway Safety Plan Pedestrian safety focus group; and the Teenage Driver committee.
In addition, Mayor Perotte served on the County KIDS Network from 2006-2009 and the First 5 Advisory Board from 2004-2006. From 2000-2004 she worked with the Santa Barbara Area Safety Committee. She was instrumental in successfully advocating for the passage of state laws increasing fines in school zones, reducing speed limits, and extending the school zones.
Among Mayor Perotte's other greatest interests and passions is making progress on the following: preserving the character of Goleta and its neighborhoods environmental resources; ensuring good clean jobs and a vibrant economy; reducing homelessness; increasing more housing that is affordable for our residents; assisting children with special needs; providing a wide range of safe and convenient transportation alternatives; and protecting the safety of the public from crime, fire, other natural disasters and climate change.
Mayor Perotte has been a resident of Goleta for more than 35 years where she and her husband Peter, a Goleta native, raised their two, adult daughters. They are also the proud grandparents of Colton, Dakota and Thomas.
