Bringing your bike on Metrolink

It’s amazing how well trains and bikes get along. Metrolink makes it easy with special cars that let you bring your bike on the train. It is the perfect way to escape for an easy ride or something more challenging.

While bikes are allowed on ALL Metrolink train cars, the special Bike Cars are designed to hold nine bikes on the lower level. Bike Cars are identified by a yellow “Bike Car” decal on the side of the train.

Fullerton Loop bike trail

The Fullerton Loop trail is a popular 11.1 mile loop trail offering a unique mix of dirt single and double track trail along with some sidewalk and asphalt riding. So plan accordingly! It is a fun patchwork of old equestrian paths that run along property lines and an old railroad corridor. Learn more about this trail here at alltrails.com

Getting to the trail
Take Harbor Blvd. north one mile to Berkeley Ave. Turn left and ride .1 miles on Berkeley. The trail starts behind the North Justice Center on the west side of the street.

Juanita Cooke Greenbelt trail

The Juanita Cooke Greenbelt trail shares some of the same initial segments as the Fullerton Loop trail but extends further north where it turns around at Imperial Highway. It is a 2.5-mile ride each way that connects some of the area’s quiet neighborhoods with downtown. It is an improved dirt trail perfect for walking or biking. Learn more.

The trailhead is the same as the Fullerton Loop trail.

Fullerton Arboretum

If you prefer to take your slick street bike for a fun spin in Fullerton, we suggest a ride to the Fullerton Arboretum. It’s a 4-mile ride from the station. The Arboretum is a fun, 26-acre botanical garden with a collection of plants from around the world. Ride here then go for a stroll through the beautiful and picturesque gardens and learn about wildlife conservation and research. Best of all, it is free.

Riding here
Take Commonwealth Ave. east 2 miles to State College Blvd. Take State College Blvd. north 1.2 miles then turn right on Yorba Linda Blvd for 1.2 miles then right on Associated Rd.

The Fullerton Transportation Center

The historic Fullerton Depot is part of the Fullerton Transportation Center and serves both Metrolink and Amtrak along with connections on OC Bus. The 1930 depot is a masterwork of the Spanish Colonial Revival style with graceful arches, decorative metalwork and a Monterey-style balcony. We always suggest when planning your adventure to check the Metrolink train schedule to Fullerton. Both the Orange County Line and 91/Perris Valley Line serve this destination.
