HIGHLIGHTS

Signal synchronization During the fiscal year, 24 projects were awarded totalling $9.7 million. These included 533 signals, covering 141 miles under the Measure M2 Project P Traffic Signal Synchronization Program.

The Regional Capacity Program The Regional Capacity Program awarded approximately $36.5 million in new funding for 10 projects through the arterial capacity enhancement, intersection capacity enhancement, and freeway arterial/street transition categories. These 10 projects resulted in an average capacity improvement of 28 percent.

Grade separation projects As part of the OC Bridges Program, grade separation projects on Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive and Orangethorpe Avenue started construction this fiscal year to move traffic over railroad tracks and eliminate the need to stop at crossings. Two railroad bridge structures were completed at the Placentia Avenue and Kraemer Boulevard locations and are scheduled to open in 2014. The design and right-of-way phases were completed for projects at Raymond Avenue, State College Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue. Construction continued on the Sand Canyon grade separation project located on the LOSSAN Corridor.

Local Fair Share dollars OCTA distributed $44.5 million to cities for local street and road improvements throughout the county during the fiscal year. Since the inception of Measure M2, $88.6 million has been distributed.

Measure M1 projects This fiscal year, two projects were completed under the Measure M1 Traffic Light Synchronization Program totaling 107 signals covering 29 miles. The La Palma Avenue project reflected a travel time savings of 19 percent; the Yorba Linda project saved 14 percent in travel time. For the two projects, the total monetary savings in time and fuel was $26.5 million.

Smart Streets Last year, OCTA completed the final segment of the Measure M1 Smart Street Program on Imperial Highway in La Habra from Harbor Boulevard to the Los Angeles County Line.
