Many Orange County residents chose rail to get to their destinations and special promotions like the Angels Express gave baseball fans an alternative way to get to the stadium for home games.
More travelers left their cars at home and let Metrolink move them with ridership increasing to 4.4 million boardings on the three lines serving Orange County. And, for the third year in a row, baseball fans skipped weeknight traffic and jumped aboard the Angels Express, a special Metrolink service that provides a convenient and affordable train ride to Angel Stadium in Anaheim. With 34,207 riders last year, the Angels Express was partially funded by a grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). In addition, the City of Anaheim began construction on the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), an intermodal transportation facility that will serve the entire southern California region.
