Ridership growth Metrolink ridership increased to 4.4 million boardings on the three lines serving Orange County, surpassing fiscal year 2010-2011 and fiscal year 2011-2012 by 500,000 and 200,000, respectively.

Orange County Line Weekday ridership increased by 3.1 percent on the Orange County Line.

Inland Empire-Orange County Line Weekday ridership on the Inland Empire-Orange County Line increased by nearly 10 percent.

Rail crossing safety enhancements In cooperation and coordination with OCTA, the cities of Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano established quiet zones during the fiscal year.

Expanded parking Construction began on the parking lot expansion at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink Station and was completed in October 2013.

Rail safety promoted After OCTA completed the improvement of 52 Orange County railroad crossings with enhanced safety and signaling features, it created a public service announcement that was shown at major theaters along the rail corridor to educate teenagers about rail crossing safety and to instill rail safety eduction early in life.

Station van extensions Just under one million dollars was awarded in the first call for projects for bus and station van extensions. These projects will provide vital connections between various employment centers and Metrolink stations in the cities of Lake Forest and Anaheim.

Local fixed guideways With support from Measure M2, the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana and Garden Grove are examining rail transportation alternatives that will connect local Metrolink stations with activity and employment centers.

Regional transportation center Construction began on ARTIC, a regional transportation center that will support Metrolink, Amtrak and OCTA buses as well as planned future transportation. Completion is expected in 2014.
