Benchmark Ongoing OCTA Projects
Conduct a bus market study and address bus ridership issues
- In September, the Board received the results of a quantitative Bus Market Study developed to identify factors leading to the decline in bus ridership and high-potential new markets.
- The study recommended increasing frequency on high-demand bus routes and implementing promotional campaigns targeting specific ridership markets.
- OCTA has developed a service plan proposal to increase bus ridership and better serve the community.
- The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) conducted a peer review of OCTA’s bus system. APTA commended OCTA’s well-coordinated and long-term strategies, and provided recommendations to improve bus ridership.
Perform a 10-year review of the Measure M2 program
- OCTA completed its first comprehensive review of the Measure M2 Program.
- The review determined that Measure M2 is supported by the public and that OCTA continues to deliver M2 programs as promised to the voters.
- To ensure successful delivery of Measure M2, the plan was amended to close out Project T (Gateways to Metrolink), and allocate the remaining funds to address projected shortfalls in Project U (Fare Stabilization for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities) and Project R (High-Frequency Metrolink Service).
