Additional Metrolink service was provided to the All-Star game and the Angels Express was introduced—a new series of trains that helped fans leave their cars at home and avoid traffic at the stadium.
Expanded service, two new passes and special trains equates to happy passengers and increased ridership. During the past fiscal year, OCTA and Metrolink expanded both weekday and weekend service through Orange County. And with the additional service came many perks such as the $7 OCLink Pass, a new $10 weekend pass and specialty trains like the Angels Express that made it easy for baseball fans to avoid traffic hassles. With all these opportunities and incentives it is no wonder riders took nearly 3.9 million trips.

Quiet zones During the fiscal year, a total of 16 railroad grade crossings in Orange, 14 in Anaheim and one in Tustin were established as quiet zones where trains don't need to sound their horns due to safety enhancements. By December 2011, 52 crossings were upgraded. Photos
Two new passes OCTA introduced OCLink, a new promotional $7 weekday pass allowing purchasers to ride Metrolink trains and OCTA buses across the county. A new $10 Metrolink weekend pass allowing unlimited weekend train rides was also introduced. Through December 2011, 7,042 OCLink passes and 91,163 Metrolink weekend passes had been sold. Photos
