From keeping seniors mobile to helping to build the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), Measure M plays an integral part in moving Orange County.

This past fiscal year, several projects moved forward that were designed to increase train travel in Orange County by adding more station parking, advancing local connections to Metrolink stations, and constructing a regional transportation center. In addition, Measure M funds continued to keep bus fares affordable for seniors and people with disabilities.

Expanded parking structure Construction began at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink Station to increase the number of parking spaces to 460 and was completed in October 2013. PROJECT R

Metrolink ridership growth This past year, Orange County Metrolink ridership increased to 4.4 million.

Station van connections Nearly $1 million was awarded to fund transit connections between employment centers and Metrolink stations in the cities of Lake Forest and Anaheim. PROJECT S

Community circulators Nearly $9.8 million in funding was awarded for five projects scheduled for implementation during the next fiscal year to provide vanpool connections, special event and seasonal services, and local community circulators. PROJECT V

Local fixed guideways Two fixed-guideway projects designed to provide transit connections to Metrolink are currently in the planning stages. The Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC) proposes using streetcars to link ARTIC with the Platinum Triangle and Anaheim Resort. In addition, the cities of Santa Ana and Garden Grove are examining alternatives to connect the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center with key activity and employment centers. PROJECT S

New regional transportation center The City of Anaheim began construction on ARTIC, an intermodal transportation hub that will support existing and future transit services. PROJECT R & PROJECT T

Keeping seniors mobile Under Measure M, $2.8 million was made available to stabilize bus fares for seniors and people with disabilities. In addition, more than $2.1 million in Measure M funding was used to subsidize transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities through the Senior Mobility Program. PROJECT U
