Nearly $4.7 million allocated to restore 214 acres of open space in Orange County. Six projects were funded to restore preserved open space lands to their native habitat, including removal of invasive plant species.
As part of the Freeway Environmental Mitigation Program, a conservation plan was being developed for the long-term management of preserved lands.
OCTA awarded $2.8 million to 24 cities and the County of Orange to fund 33 projects under the M2 Environmental Cleanup and Water Quality Program.
OCTA developed a second water quality improvement funding source targeting regional, capital-intensive water quality improvement projects, including bioswales, constructed wetlands and detention/infiltration basins. Approximately $13.3 million was granted for the first round of funding that is expected to be awarded in early 2013.
