Milestones

Measure M Traffic Light Synchronization Program projects continued on La Palma Avenue and Yorba Linda Boulevard.

Improvements were made to Newport Boulevard between 19th and 17th Streets in Costa Mesa.

The north and south side of Imperial Highway in the city of Brea were widened.

The Aliso Creek and Pacific Park intersection in Aliso Viejo was improved.

Key streets & roads highlights

Local Fair Share dollars $41.3 million was distributed to cities for local street and road improvements throughout the county.

Measure M1 projects Two projects continued under the Measure M1 Traffic Light Synchronization Program: La Palma Avenue encompassing 58 signals covering 18 miles, and Yorba Linda Boulevard synchronizing 45 signals over 12 miles.

Measure M2 projects Transportation improvement funding grants under Measure M2 Projects O and P were approved in April 2012. These grants provided funding for seven street widening projects totaling $35 million under Project O and 24 signal synchronization projects totaling $9.6 million under Project P.

Signal synchronization Seven OCTA-led signal synchronization projects were in progress: Ball Road with 37 signals covering 11 miles; Lake Forest Drive with 10 signals covering 2 miles; Pacific Park Drive/Oso Parkway with 31 signals covering 8 miles; Los Olisos Boulevard with 21 signals covering 7 miles; Santa Margarita Parkway with 22 signals covering 5 miles; Edinger Avenue with 38 signals covering 12 miles; and 1st Street/Bolsa Avenue with 49 signals covering 12 miles.

Grade separation projects Construction began on the Kraemer Boulevard and Placentia Avenue grade separations as part of the OC Bridges Program.

OC Bridges design phasing The design phase was completed for two additional OC Bridges projects: the Orangethorpe Avenue and the Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive overcrossings.
