On October 9, OCTA
joined the City of San Clemente and our regional, state and federal
partners to celebrate the completion of major safety and structural
improvements at Mariposa Point and the reopening of the San Clemente
Beach Trail. The project marks a significant milestone in OCTA’s
efforts to protect the vital coastal rail corridor while restoring an
important connection for residents and visitors. Led by OCTA, the
complex project included constructing a nearly 1,400-foot protective
wall along the bluff and rebuilding the beach trail with enhanced
ocean views, all within a narrow stretch of coastline where the bluff,
railroad, trail and ocean converge. This project was made possible
through collaboration with the City of San Clemente, Metrolink, state
and federal partners, regulatory agencies, contractors and the
community. Continued coordination will be essential to protecting
Orange County’s rail connection for future generations.

October is National Pedestrian Safety Month, a reminder
that everyone has a role in helping to make walking a
safe and comfortable way to get around Orange County.
