Important Reminders About Wave

Please keep these milestones in mind as you enjoy traveling with Wave on OC Bus.

Beginning March 1, the former OC Bus mobile app will be permanently discontinued. After that date, the old app will no longer function for fare purchases or account management. If you haven’t already done so, make sure you have downloaded the Wave app and confirmed your account is active with your current payment information. The Wave app is now the official mobile platform for OC Bus fare payments and account management.

April 30 is the final day paper passes are accepted on OC Bus. After April 30, paper passes will no longer be valid for travel. Riders will need to use the Wave app, a physical Wave card, a contactless credit or debit card, or cash for single rides (exact change required).

Thank you for riding OC Bus!

Traveling in the Rain? Be Prepared and Stay Safe

Riding OC Bus is a great choice when it’s raining. Our experienced drivers follow safety protocols year-round and are trained to handle inclement weather.

Here are some practical rainy-day travel tips to help you ride safely and comfortably:

  • Check weather and service alerts before leaving home. OC Bus and Metrolink post real-time schedule changes and alerts on their websites and apps.
  • Use real-time tools like the Transit app to see departures, delays, or cancellations.
  • Give yourself more travel time than usual. Rain can slow down buses and trains as drivers and operators take extra precautions boarding passengers and navigating slick streets. Riders may take longer to board with umbrellas, raincoats, and gear.
  • Wait safely at stops. Stand away from street edges and puddles while waiting. Watch your footing — wet pavement can be slippery.

Call for Artists: Feb. 28 Deadline for OC Streetcar Commission

Orange County’s first modern streetcar is arriving this year. Selected artists will be compensated on a commission basis and will collaborate with OCTA to capture the experience of the OC Streetcar – celebrating connection, movement, and the vibrant culture of our communities. The deadline to submit portfolios is February 28. Learn more.

OCTA Celebrates Metrolink Riders

On February 12, OCTA Directors Go, Nguyen, and Tettemer stopped by the Irvine Metrolink station to say hello to riders as part of Metrolink’s Customer Appreciation Day. Metrolink service has been a popular transit alternative in Orange County since 1994, when the Orange County line began operation thanks to Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements. Approved by voters, Measure M helped pay for track improvements and capacity upgrades, funded station construction and improvements, and supported rail corridor infrastructure investments.
