Reliability, Resilience & Equity Guide 2023 OCTA Initiatives

Chairman Gene Hernandez and CEO Darrell E. Johnson unveil plan for OCTA to sustain and enhance a balanced, innovative transportation network for O.C.

ORANGE – Throughout 2023, the Orange County Transportation Authority will focus on continuing to build a transportation network that is equitable, balanced and reliable, is fiscally conservative with taxpayer dollars, and protects the environment that makes Orange County such a special place to live.

Those guiding goals are part of the 2023 Board and CEO Strategic Initiatives and Action Plan, which was unveiled during Monday’s board meeting by OCTA Chairman Gene Hernandez, also the Mayor of Yorba Linda, and by OCTA CEO Darrell E. Johnson.

At the start of each year, the newly elected chairperson works with the CEO to formulate the document that guides the agency’s efforts throughout the coming year. OCTA continues to prioritize safety, which has always guided all of OCTA’s actions and became increasingly important in the last three years because of the ongoing effects of COVID-19.

“OCTA has not only withstood the challenges of the past few years, this agency’s prudent planning has helped it thrive, helping build a stronger transportation network for the people of Orange County,” Chairman Hernandez said. “Working with my Board colleagues, these initiatives build on our past successes and look to the future to deliver on the promise to keep Orange County moving safely and efficiently.”
