OC Bus

Transit Training Program

Our free Transit Training service is the perfect solution for those who want to develop confident bus-riding skills before heading out to explore Orange County. In addition to English, upon request training is available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Mandarin.

Group Training

Designed for groups of 10 to 20, online and in-person* workshops are offered in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Mandarin.

What to Expect

Workshops last 60 to 90 minutes. Registration is required. Prior to training, we will share materials via email.

Training includes:

  • How to plan a trip
  • Fares and reduced fare options
  • How to safely board and exit a bus
  • ADA accessibility standards and using mobility devices
  • Interactive activities

Online Workshop participants will need access to:

  • Internet
  • A computer (laptop or desktop) or tablet
  • E-mail
  • Zoom, Google Meets, or Microsoft Teams

In-Person Individual and Small Group Training


For those who would like a more personalized training approach, individual and small group (2-3 people) training is available. In this free training program, an instructor will take the time to identify your individual transit needs and goals to develop a customized training program to ensure you feel confident using OC Bus.

What to Expect

  • An instructor will meet with you to discuss your experience with transit, any limitations, hesitation, and your goals.

  • Training will provide you with information regarding reduced fares, local routes, trip planning and ADA accessibility.

  • With the help of the instructor, you will decide on a destination, identify a route and ride the bus together.

  • These sessions have limited multi-language availability.

  • Participants who complete individual transit training will receive a complimentary 30-day bus pass.
