Orange County Joins Transit Agencies Nationwide To ‘Dump The Pump’ Thursday

WHAT: The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) will join more than 100 public transportation systems throughout the country to encourage commuters to leave their cars at home and try public transit.

The third annual National Dump the Pump Day is Thursday, June 19 and it is a perfect opportunity for commuters to beat the high price of gas and do their part to help conserve the environment.

OCTA staff members will be at the Fullerton Metrolink station to thank transit passengers and welcome new riders with a continental breakfast.

OCTA also invites riders to share their stories of using public transit during “Dump the Pump” week. Riders are encouraged to create short videos describing their experiences and share them on the Web site YouTube.com.

Creators of selected clips will receive prizes such as an iPhone, iPod and iTunes music, and their stories will be featured on OCTA’s Web site, www.octa.net – reaching more than 1 million viewers per month.

Video entries should be submitted online at YouTube.com with “Orange County Dump the Pump” as a title. Submissions are due by 8 a.m. July 21 for consideration and should be no more than four minutes long.

WHEN: OCTA staff will be at the Fullerton Transportation Center 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, June 19.

WHERE: Fullerton Transportation Center, 120 E. Santa Fe Ave., Fullerton, Calif.
