OCTA Approves Funding For Shuttle To Buena Park Metrolink

Shuttle bus service available during peak hours from Fullerton Park-and-Ride to Buena Park Metrolink Station

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and the city of Buena Park are teaming up to provide a shuttle service between the Fullerton Park-and-Ride and the Buena Park Metrolink Station.

The OCTA Board of Directors approved on Monday $225,000 to fund the shuttle service for a demonstration period of one year. The Buena Park City Council is expected to vote on the plan at its May 13 meeting. Buena Park would be responsible for the implementation, operation and management of the shuttle bus service between the Metrolink station and the Park-and-Ride.

High Ridership at the new Buena Park station has resulted in a need for additional parking beyond the station’s 300 spaces.

The shuttle bus service will be available Monday through Friday during peak morning and afternoon commute hours. If approved by Buena Park, the city will contract with a shuttle company and service could be under way by the end of May.

The Buena Park station is served by two Metrolink lines, the Orange County Line connects Los Angeles and travels south to Oceanside, and the 91 Line, connecting Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties.

The Fullerton Park-and-Ride is located on Orangethorpe Avenue and Magnolia Avenue, where the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) and the Riverside Freeway (SR-91) intersect.
