      OCTA has received an award from the Orange County Engineering Council for the Oso Parkway signal synchronization project.

      Awarded Feb. 28, 2011at the OCTA Board Meeting
      Recently, the Orange County Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers selected the I-5 Gateway project as its Project of the Year and OCTA Project Manager Rose Casey as its Government Engineer of Merit.

      Other key members involved with the I-5 Gateway project, which was Measure M's last freeway project, were:

      - OCTA Project Manager Charlie Guess
      - Caltrans Project Manager Ken Bui
      - Community Relations Lead Alice Rogan.

      Engineering News Record
      Awarded Feb. 17, 2011 at the Legislative and Commutations CommitteeOCTA named one of six companies to watch by Engineering News Record (Trade publication for the engineering/construction industry) - This selection stemmed from the $525 million worth of projects we had under way in 2010. OCTA is the only public agency selected for this honor – we received it for our emphasis on getting things done during significantly challenging economic times.

      Mobile Marketing Association (MMA)
      Awarded in November 2010
      OCTA Marketing launched a new text messaging program that helped save tens of thousands of dollars earned one of the nation's top marketing honors in November 2010 from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). OCTA earned the honor for its Text4Next program, an interactive campaign which helped reduce operating costs by giving passengers the ability to request bus schedule information via text messaging rather than calling the agency's customer support center. The program reduced incoming customer calls to the agency's call center by more than 40 percent. In comparison, the program provides tremendous savings to OCTA with SMS text messaging services costing 10 cents per message versus $2 per each call placed by customers to the call center.

      Orange County Transportation Authority CEO Will Kempton was named one of the nation's top 10 ten public works leaders in the U.S. by the American Public Works Association, a national organization representing public works officials and civil engineers.

      OCTA Marketing recently received a First Place APTA AdWheels Award for an online video presentation that demonstrated the completely redesigned OCTA.net. The video was a cost-effective, in-house production by the Marketing Department. Watch the award-winning video.
       

      American Public Transportation Association
      Awarded in June 2010
      The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) was recently presented the Gold Award for Security Excellence by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for the Tracking Automated Graffiti Reporting System (TAGRS). TAGRS is a web-based program, developed by OCTA and the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which simplifies the documentation process of graffiti incidents, identification of suspects and acts as central hub for law enforcement. OCTA has utilized the graffiti-tracking program, at no cost, since its release in September 2008.
